The Value of Time and Living in the Present

If people's lives were infinitely long, would they still find value in living to the fullest and cherishing the present? Personally, I might find myself both physically and mentally corrupted by such endlessness. In contrast, the brevity of life makes each moment more precious, compelling us to focus on what is truly important. It is precisely because our lives have an end that we strive to make the most of our present. From a philosophical or physical standpoint, living in the present might seem like an illusion. Reflecting on my youth, I recall spending time on activities that felt wasteful. Although these moments seemed frivolous, they often provided lessons and experiences that I utilized later in life. However, life after retirement is vastly different from youth. As we become increasingly aware of the limited time we have left, we grow more conscious of not wanting to squander it on trivial matters. In this way, the passage of time significantly influences our values and priorities as we navigate through life. Time, with its inevitable end, shapes our desire to live meaningfully and with purpose.
