Past Effort, Present Strength
When I recall the major challenges I
faced at work back then, fragmented scenes—long buried deep in my memory—come
flooding back one after another. Even though those experiences happened many
years ago, the more vividly I remember them, the more my heart races and my
blood seems to heat up, creating a restless yet invigorating sensation deep
within me. It is truly remarkable. I really did give it my all. Of course, now
that I am living my post-retirement life, I no longer possess the agility or
toughness I once had, and I can no longer do many of the things I used to do.
Yet whenever I recall those times—when I gave a challenge my absolute all—a
surge of passionate energy wells up from deep within me, becoming a genuine
source of vitality. Everyone, not only at work, encounters significant
milestones in life when they boldly give their all to a challenge. Regardless
of the outcome, if we look back positively on those moments of wholehearted
effort, they can become a powerful source of inspiration and motivation for our
present selves. In this sense, the experience of giving our all to a challenge
is a valuable intangible mental asset for the future—a long-term investment
that continues to yield strength long after the challenge itself has ended.
